Our Open Letter and Call to Conscience to the Soldiers at Ft. Drum, see below, was published on Veteran's Day, November 11, 2007 in the Watertown Daily Times, Watertown, NY, on the last page of the first section.

The Open Letter is a message of hope and concern; an affirmation that Veterans from all of the recent wars and all walks of life, support our troops and are working diligently to bring them home as quickly and as safely as possible. We strongly prefer to honor Veterans on Veterans Day rather then remember them on Memorial Day. It is also an invitation to all citizens of the United States to stand united against the failed and deadly foreign policy of the Bush Administration and the United States Congress. We wish to thank all of our supporters, both publicly signed and unsigned, for their important contribution to ending the occupation of Iraq and working for a just and lasting peace. We strongly encourage everyone to direct their friends and neighbors to our website to read the Open Letter and Call to Conscience and begin the necessary dialogue to end the occupation of Iraq. We encourage you to review our five important actions all of us can take to bring this catastrophic tragedy of deadly and failed foreign policy to a close. Thanks again and remember this is just the beginning. Continue to up the ante and never forget, "We the people" are the most powerful force on the face of this earth. Yours in the struggle for peace and justice. John Amidon, President VFP Chapter 10 Albany, NY
